Copyright protection

Stop stolen content. Protect your platform.

We prepare and send DMCA takedown notices when your content is copied online, and we register and maintain your DMCA designated agent with the U.S. Copyright Office.

DMCA Takedowns & Agent Registration

Two sides of the DMCA, handled

For content owners: when your photos, videos, writing or designs are posted without permission, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act gives you a way to have them removed. We locate the right contact for the website, host or platform, prepare a notice that includes every element the law requires, send it on your behalf and follow up until you get a response.

For website owners and online platforms: if your site lets users post content, the DMCA’s safe harbor can protect you from liability for what they upload — but only if you have a designated agent registered with the U.S. Copyright Office and listed on your website. We file the designation, update your DMCA policy page and track the three-year renewal so it never lapses.

Frequently asked questions

What has to be in a DMCA takedown notice?

The law requires a physical or electronic signature of the owner or an authorized agent, identification of the copyrighted work and the infringing material and its location, your contact information, a statement of good-faith belief that the use is not authorized, and a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and that you are authorized to act for the owner.

Who needs a DMCA designated agent?

Any online service provider that wants the DMCA safe harbor for material stored at a user’s direction — for example websites with comments, reviews, forums, uploads or customer accounts. The agent’s contact details must be registered with the U.S. Copyright Office and posted on your website.

How long does a designation last?

Three years. It must be renewed by amending or resubmitting it before it lapses, or the safe harbor protection can be lost. We track the date for you.

Can you tell me whether my use is fair use?

No. We don’t give legal advice or decide fair use questions. If the facts are unclear, please consult a licensed attorney before sending or responding to a notice.
